The BILEN Institute’s leadership reflects the scale of its mission: a nationally ambitious, community‑centered scientific campus built to expand opportunity, accelerate discovery, and elevate human‑performance science. Guided by the Sharma Foundation and supported by Sharma Capital Holdings (SCH), the institute is structured to grow into one of the country’s most accessible and impactful research environments.
Our leadership model is intentionally broad. It combines executive direction, philanthropic stewardship, scientific governance, and community integration — ensuring that the institute remains more accessible than VAI, more community‑focused than traditional research centers, and more aligned with the values that inspired its creation.
Founder & Executive Chairman — Ved Sharma
As executive chairman of Sharma Capital Holdings and Founder of the BILEN Institute, Ved leads the institute’s strategic direction, capital development, and national expansion. His role centers on building a research ecosystem that removes barriers, expands access, and positions the institute as a flagship of applied psychology and neuroscience in the United States.
Ved’s leadership is defined by scale: expanding the Sharma Foundation’s reach, building philanthropic pathways that honor Ms. Bilen’s influence, and establishing a scientific institution capable of standing alongside the nation’s most respected research centers. His vision includes national recognition by January 2027, including representation at the Bill Gates STEM Summit — a milestone aligned with the institute’s mission of empowering young founders and advancing human‑centered science.

A multidisciplinary council composed of psychologists, neuroscientists, engineers, clinicians, and community leaders. Advises on research priorities, ethics, community integration, and national expansion.
The institute’s leadership model is built around three principles:
Accessibility— expanding scientific opportunity to thousands of people who would normally be filtered out.
Community Impact— building programs that uplift Detroit, empower students, and integrate families into research.
National Ambition — establishing the institute as a recognized leader in applied psychology and neuroscience by 2027.
